Capacity Development
Capacity Development
Developing capacities is a key pathway by which we seek to bring about change. Our trainings combine information and skill development with feminist perspectives. With extensive experience in customizing trainings to diverse stakeholders, PLD provides trainings to the government, judiciary, statutory bodies, private institutions, resource organizations, community groups and coalitions. We provide trainings on the following themes:
CEDAW: PLD has been a leading resource centre on CEDAW– producing resources; maintaining an online database for South Asia, and building capacities for implementing and monitoring CEDAW obligations.
Violence Against Women and the law: We conduct trainings on themes of gender based violence against women and the law, particularly in relation to domestic, sexual and targeted forms of violence including witch hunting.
Developing Consent Cultures: Our innovative workshops for youth organisations, peer leaders in communities and in higher education, explore issues of peer pressure, boundary setting, gender normative expectations, effective communications to build self-awareness and capacities of youth to navigate both consent and rejection.
Technical Assistance to help workplaces comply with: Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH)
In 1997, Supreme Court of India issued guidelines to organizations for prevention and redress of sexual harassment at workplace in response to a PIL, Vishakha and others. In the 2013, the Parliament of India enacted the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH) and its rules.
PLD has worked extensively to build capacities and create resources to advance implementation of the law. We conduct trainings for government at district and state levels, higher education institutions, private sector, judiciary, research centres, international organizations and media houses. PLD was commended by the Rajasthan government for conducting trainings across its 39 districts over two years.
