Capacity development is a core strategy of PLD for realisation of social justice and women’s rights. Our approach to human resource development involves a step by step process of equipping individuals with the understanding, skills and information to enable them to navigate hurdles, conceptualize context specific strategies to advance women’s rights. We provide technical assistance to stakeholders involved directly in implementing the laws or providing legal support to women. They include the judiciary, Local Complaints Committees established by the State and the Internal Complaints Committees in the private sector for implementing the law on sexual harassment at the workplace, state supported crisis support centres and networks like the Mahila Samakya and the Mahila Salah Suraksha Kendra and similar support centres established by the civil society. We work across the states in North and West India, and provide trainings in English and Hindi.
We conduct trainings on the following laws – The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2012; Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012; and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013; Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and the state laws on witch hunting laws.
We also provide technical assistance and guidance for alignment of organizational policies, creation of systems, capacities and mechanisms to implement sexual harassment at the workplace. We also offer resource material in both English and Hindi to facilitate prevention of sexual harassment.
