India at the UN

India is a signatory to several human rights treaties and has been a member of the Human Rights Council. Its human rights obligations are constitutionally enshrined in Part III on the fundamental rights and Chapter IV on the Directive Principles of State Policy of the Constitution of India. Several judicial pronouncements have also interpreted India’s constitutional standard in harmony with international human rights standards
