Projects

Our programme aims to build capacities for asserting women’s rights in social justice initiatives especially for community action, law reform and advocacy. The programme outreach has three broad components: a) building partnerships or field-based collaborations between community groups and local lawyers; b) strengthening capacities through training workshops, perspective development and technical assistance; c) creating knowledge through production of resource packages, education material and action research.

Through providing direct support to field-based interventions, conducting training programmes and creation of knowledge resources – we endeavour to strengthen capacities and build perspective in alternative law strategies and human rights. We believe that alternative law strategies can be effectively integrated into social justice and advocacy initiatives. Our primary target groups are intermediaries who directly work with marginalized groups, social workers, lawyers, and community groups; as well as those whose work involves influencing and promoting social justice like academics, judges, bureaucracy, police and NGOs/ resource groups. Although we work with a network of community partners and resource groups primarily within India, we also actively work with regional Asia Pacific women’s rights networks. Additionally, we also work on support campaigns relating to human rights and women.
