Domestic Violence Act

After sustained campaigns by women’s groups and activists, the Protection against Domestic Violence Act, 2005, was enacted and a national coalition of women’s organisations came together to ensure effective implementation, perspective building and monitoring of the Act. PLD is part of this coalition. The coalition members have contributed to the drafting of the rules, scrutinising the appointment of Protection Officers, monitoring and sharing the outcome of cases. It shares and updates the member organizations regarding the implementation of the Act and networks with the government for effective enforcement of the law. For details, contact:
